I cannot find this book I read years ago about this girl who goes on a magical adventure. It was a children’s chapter book, and the cover of it was so colorful and really pretty. Anyways this girl who lives in this world where everything is gray and covered in soot one day finds these beams I think. They’re magical beans. She goes on this whole adventure and meets this old man, a wizard maybe, and they become friends. She also has a cat I’m pretty sure. Anyways she’s in the forest on this adventure and she finds out about these powers. I can’t find it, but I know I’ve read it. It was such a lovely book.
