Hi everyone. In 1990 I read a short story about a man who lived with a horrible woman, his wife, who was described as absolutely dreadful. He had this box or trunk that we would go into and be whisked away to a paradise of vices. He would be gone for days at a time and his wife (and apparently anyone else) had no way to find him or escape via the box. Toward the end of the story it describes the man forcing himself to leave the heavenly place and return to his wife/home via the box. The conclusion being, without the negative, positive simply does not exist or cannot be appreciated.
The story has stuck with me all these years and I'm desperately trying to find this S.S. I don't recall the title or author, but do know that it was one of a book of short stories that also contained Philip Dick's "We Can Remember it for You Wholesale" because that was the story for which I checked out the book. A million thanks in advance if anyone can help me track down this short story/book!!

It's "In the Imagicon" by George Henry Smith. It's in NEBULA AWARD STORIES #2 - which also has "We Can Remember it for You Wholesale".
