I recently finished L'Homme qui partit en fumée by Maj Sjöwall and Per Wahlöö which is set in Budapest during the Cold War. I was there in the 1990s but was able to navigate through the streets: not much has changed! It's fun to be able to travel again cities I've visited through books.

The Great Escape: Nine Jews Who Fled Hitler and Changed the World

No, no not that wonderful book about Brits sneaking from a Silesian LuftStalag.
