Cargando... Haunted House (1979 original; edición 2005)por Jan Pieńkowski27months - this book belonged to my step-son who was very much into spooky things. I read to him a lot but I don't ever remember cracking this book open. Today my daughter and I sat down to read this and two things really hit me about this book. First wow very cool pop-ups! Secondly there is no story. This one would have been better if the words were excluded. Very fun to look at and talk about, skip the text. If I could I'd rate illustrations 5 stars and story 0. Another classic pop-up book from Jan Pieńkowski, this time he leads a doctor making a house call (the reader) through a haunted house full of unusual creatures and mysterious objects. Eyes may be watching you, spiders drop out of nowhere, and boy, look-out for that bug in the bathroom! Not to mention the mysterious cat that seems to be everywhere at once. My favorite pop-up is the spooky bedchamber with all sorts of things that go bump in the night! This pop-up book, Haunted House by Jan Pieńkowski, was one of the most well-loved books in my home when I was a kid. In fact, it was pretty much held together with tape and willpower by the end. When I recently bought a new copy for Z, my brother was very excited to hear that I've found this one again! And I can't convey to you how excited Z was to see it for the first time. http://webereading.com/2010/10/rip-read-18-haunted-house.html Originally published more than 20 years ago, Jan Pienkowski's terrifically twisted Haunted House returns in a mini-edition. Creepy creatures and hidden surprises await readers bold enough to accept the invitation on the great green door of a cover: "Let yourself in." A snaggle-toothed monster with enormous tonsils presides over the kitchen; a King Kong-size gorilla dominates the living room. |
