I adored the cover as soon as I saw it, it reminds me of an old fashioned toffee tin of which my late Mum used to keep old buttons in.

The characters are warm and friendly and the storyline has you enthralled until the very end. It gets you in the Christmas mood and wanting to grab the mulled wine and mince pies. It is heartwarming and will make you smile and you may well shed a tear or two. Its a lovely cosy Jim jam and dressing gown kind of book to snuggle down with. ( )

*Sighs* I love Christie Barlow and the cover art may have set the bar high but I confess, this didn't quite hit the "feel-good Christmas romance" description on the cover, hence the disappointment I felt after reading it.

It was an excellent story, but I'm still not sure where all the happy feels come in. Lizzie is in a rut, tired of her relationship and is tempted by the handsome new neighbor. It is well written and has a few good laughs, but with deception, lies, and turmoil in the mix I wouldn't consider it festive.

I think if it had been marketed differently it would have hit all its marks. This is a story set at Christmastime, not a Christmas story.
