Magnesia Litera is an annual book award held in the Czech Republic since 2002. The prize covers all literary genres in eight genre categories: prose, mostrar más poetry, children’s book (since 2004), non-fiction, essay/journalism (since 2007), translation, publishing achievement, book debut, and the main prize – one of the genre nominee is named the “Czech Book of the Year”.

Magnesia Litera Book Award The purpose of the annual Magnesia Litera Book Award is to find and promote best books from the previous year. The award is presented by an independent body consisting of the following members: Academy of Science of the Czech Republic, Czech Centre of International P.E.N., Czech section of IBBY, Writers’ Guild, Translators‘ Guild, Czech Literary Fund Foundation, and Association of Czech Booksellers and Publishers. Prizes are awarded in 9 categories at the evening ceremony in the Prague City Library.
