This beautiful book explores the life and works of Arthur Szyk, a Polish-Jewish-American artist of the first half of the 20th century. During the Second World War he was very widely known in the U.S. for his propaganda art; his caricatures of the Axis leaders were on many magazine covers, and he produced heartbreaking pleas for help for Europe's Jews. He also illustrated many books, including a gorgeous Hagganah. His style is unique, and I think his work is vastly underrated.
