Holy crap, what a mind-fuck - although it HAD occurred to me at one point that Seven was being deceptive, if only because I've entertained a similar plot bunny. Really good.

Dayum. Virgin sacrifice. Reminiscent of Keira's and my story with the public deflowering and selective sharing. Very hot.

1st reading. 20 years in the future since the previous book. The world is very different and preternaturals are kept in cages by magic users for their blood. Noah, Cole and Jane's pup, has been a captive for 20 years since he was 7yo. Sydney, Anthony and Charles's hybrid daughter is kidnapped.
Good, a bit frustrating that the series ends here and we don't get to witness Noah's growth and healing, but that's not what these books are about.

2nd reading. Interesting reinterpretation of the myth. No Demeter, just Zeus (who only shows up at the end), who has stripped her of her powers and her memory and her hidden her for centuries to prevent Hades from having her. They are two sides of the same coin, and he awakens her to her desires. She loves him, but she can't live in the underworld.

2nd reading. Interesting psychological exploration of a woman who's broken being brought back to life and of a man atoning for a son. Villain however is one dimensional.

Holy crap - so hot. Three men, not just sharing her, but involved with each other. (And can I just mention I find it amusing that two of the men are named Soren and Griffin, and that Soren is the one who really likes to punish? lol)
Wish I could have read this when I wasn't constantly getting interrupted...

Still not sure I like Lindsay very much, bc he's such a selfish bastard, but the scenes with Damian Brand and with the Con Artist are super hot.

2nd reading. 3 novellas
The Auction: Reverse harem with aliens.
Awakening: Mermaid becomes human when seduced by a man.
The King's Pleasure: Gypsy becomes the king's concubine after stealing from him. He is poisoned by doubt and shames her.

They're okay, but little more than porn with plot (though the 2nd one is a lot less porny). Well written, but like little spank bank fantasies more than anything else.

2nd reading. One of her shorter novels, not a lot of plot, but entertaining in its own way. Not as graphic as some others, not as hot.

2nd time reading. I hate that her virginity is taken in the brothel, but otherwise this is enjoyable.

Loved it just as much the 2nd time around as the first. He's so fucked up...
Also, this couple shows up in one of the Pleasure House books (Twisted Fates, I think), after they've been together for a while, and it's encouraging to see them apparently having progressed to a better, more caring(?) relationship than what's seen here.

2nd reading. I love the world-building in this one, as well as the connection between Gabriel and Helene. He cures her of her wish to die, thinking that doing so will mean he can be cured of his own desire. Instead he still wants to die, but he wants to stay *with her*.

2nd time reading it, and still love it. Love how she has to be with him in order to bring back her memories.

Dayum. Loved the blackmailing aspect. Loved the voyeuristic touch with a bit of uncertainty - then having it confirmed and that it's his brother. Very hot.

It's not me, it's you.

I tried to read you but could not find an ounce of this story I enjoyed. The storyline and characters - I could not find any connection that would keep me interested further in reading this.

I had high expectations for this book because it was an older Hades and Persephone retelling and had been on my TBR forever. This one was supposed to be different. Instead of Demeter being the main problem for Hades and Persephone, it was Zeus. Zeus had been given an oracle that his daughter was meant to be Queen of the Underworld. Stripping her of her powers, he placed her in the human world hoping to hide her from Hades. However, Hades is determined to find his fated Queen. Centuries upon centuries he scoured the world to find her and when he does, he takes her much like the myth. There is just a small tweak. Otherwise, the whole premise drew me and I had hoped it would keep me hooked, line, and sinker to the end.

That was, however, not the retelling for me. I found myself sorely disappointed. The storyline felt flat and predictable, lacking any twists or surprises that would have kept me engaged. The characters were one-dimensional and lacked depth, making it difficult to form any sort of emotional connection with them.

Honestly, I nearly DNF'ed this book but I just decided skimming it would be better.

Final Thought:

Overall, I was left feeling let down and unenthused by this book. It did not meet my expectations and failed to capture my interest. I would not recommend it if you're looking for an engaging retelling of the Hades and Persephone myth.½

well written, a good balance of sex and plot, and just enough twists to not make the ending totally predictable. I was annoyed in the beginning by Vivian's stubborn mindset, that she didn't think her husband loved her, and thought she was pretty obtuse and punished herself by being so mean to him. Would like to see a sequel.

I adore Thomas' writing, and this work of hers kept me up late finishing it (just like her books usually do!). I will say that I'm not sure it lived up to the others I've read from her--I love the darkness in her stories, and the deep-dives into character psyche, and it felt like this particular book rushed some of those moments and/or left a few opportunities for real development off the page. As a result, I really did enjoy it, but also wished it had been just a bit longer.

That said--I hold her to a higher standard than any other dark romance writer because I so love her work, so there's still no question that this book stands heads and shoulders above most dark romance I've read or will read in the future, and I'd absolutely recommend it for anyone who loves the dark and this subgenre as much as I do.

3.5 Solid Stars.

I liked it. It was entertaining, but it needed More
It is highly erotic. Great adult steamy scenes.

The ending was my favorite part. It finally felt dangerous. A nice taste of true dark.
It was the only part that felt truly dark to me.

My problems are with the female character.
She cries so much from page one, throughout the entire story, it really got on my nerves.
Also that her situation didn't really ever feel 'dangerous'.
It felt like she was a knowing player in The Game. In other words, a fantasy she was playing out with her 'Captors'. The dialog from all the characters felt scripted and didn't help make it feel anymore dangerous.

So, light on the dark. High octane on the sex scenes. Those were awesome.

Review to be Edited. This is just to get some of my thoughts down
The Good;
The beginning was great.
Love the twisted way 'Master' messed with her mind.
There was a lot I loved about this one.
Well written and decent flow.
No typos/editing errors.

The Bad;
The formating.
Only 1 POV.
Repetitive thoughts.
The epilogue
Part of the last chapter
Some of the FMC's actions/thoughts from about midway to end.

Wow, what a depressing and sad book. I can't quite wrap my mind around what I feel about it. It was pretty out there comfort zone wise. I think I could have wrapped my head around that if not for the total crazy that was the hero's messed up head space. The man was bat shit crazy and not in an evil bad guyish way, at least not much, but in a seriously tragic never gonna be right in the head again way. The heroine was trapped by her circumstances and in the end had to resign herself to living someone else's half life. So in between her struggle to face her need for kink and acceptance of the half loaf she knew she was always going to be given and his issues the book left me feeling sad.

There was a lot of out there kink and actual non consensual sex. Somehow it wasn't actually titillating and not because I was particularly offended by either of those things. But the writing left you more wrapped up in what the heroine was feeling emotionally that what was happening to her body. I wanted a better outcome for her.

The writing was high quality, not amateurish at all. But I think I will not be reading any more from this author. This is my second try at KT and I just don't like where I am after one of her stories.

Decent enough book about a girl who wants a 24/7 bdsm slave life. Not really erotica or romantica but more about the man who buys her after she's been abused and then attempts to heal them both. The set up was fairly unrealistic but framed the story.

Leave it to this author to write a novella that is very different than I first anticipated. It was dark and also sexy. I wasn't expecting the twist at the end of why they wanted Honor. I would have liked this more if there had been a deeper understanding of the background and the why. I really wanted to understand why Honor had been chosen. This premise was unique and had it been fleshed out more I would have liked it even more.
