This book was more than expected. Roaming the countryside, a group of warriors are hired by townspeople to save them from invading armies. Sprinkle a little magic around, fight against the remaining soldiers, collect reward, move on to the next town, repeat.

Of course, the story was way more exciting than that! Like I said, more than expected. Something in their world is off. Only a few residents notice it, though. Things aren’t what they seem. Are the gods pulling the strings of puppets? Is a kid using his controller to aid the mercenaries in battle? Why is Forbidden Knowledge floating so casually through the magician’s head? Only a select few have been given the privilege of seeing and talking to someone outside their world. They had been blessed with an audience with God!

I love how this story brings up the controversy on otherworldly entities. The Gods do exist. The Gods don’t exist. Either way, you’re state of being doesn’t change, does it? Your actions may begin to differ, but should they? Is life a gamble?

This is outside of my normal genre but I gave it a read after winning a free copy for review. If you want a quick read with cheesy action scenes and absurd situations, this book is for you.

I received this book in exchange for an honest review. This book is a well thought-out tale of "might have been", and is a story that calls on our subconscious dread of bad dreams - and the spin that multi-dimensional influence may play on our attempts to analyse them. I hope the next 11 tasks are as interesting as the first!
