A silly story about word endings, or suffixes, and a restless, ready-for-summer-vacation class of kids. Back matter includes "helpful rules about adding suffixes to words" and explains how to look at a word's ending to break it down into a manageable length. Throughout the book, suffixes (-ing, -ed, -s, -est, -ly, and more) are in red, with the regular text in black.

I love this book as it personifies nouns and verbs. The personalities allow the children to put a face to the actions that they may hear. They get to see what they do when the children of the classroom go outside for a field day.

Second grade is about the age where children are torn between wanting mom to visit school, but aware their friends might think it uncool.
