This is a repetitive, anecdotal, emotional attack on general education standards as they are proposed to revise and improve the performance of the public school system. Ohanian calls standards advocates "Standardistas." Very little compelling empirical evidence for her arguments and her conclusions. Ohanian argues that only the teacher in the classroom knows what is best to do in an ad hoc attempt to teach children. Her teacher-centric attack on standards is not convincing.

This one gets me going on my soapbox...I have to read it in small chunks or my family has to experience my ranting and raving! Definitely gets you thinking about wheather we are heading in the right direction with the early education of our nation's youth. Read it to be informed as an educator and a parent!
