This is a Cinderella meets Baba Yaga tale.
Like all fairy tales it has its trials and tribulations that we love, but has an unfamiliar (for me at least) twist with its Russian origin.
To accompany this lovely tale, are beautiful, gorgeous illustrations that paint the story so wonderfully.

I think this is a book that will bring endless enjoyment to its reader (owner)!

Summary: This is a Russian version of the European Cinderella story. It is a darker version than the Disney story and has a well known Russian character, Baba Yaga. She is like the fairy godmother in this tale and helps Vasilisa.
Critique of Genre: Russian folktale; Has a good theme of good versus evil where the person with no power overcomes their struggles to reach their happy ever after.
Age: intermediate, middle, possibly high school (could be used for a Russian literature unit)
