The Pheonix Shadow is another thrilling addition to the Arcadian Wars series. Whereas the most recent book (the prequel) explains the back story, book number two starts to pull everything together. A lot of readers questions are answered and most of the truth and many of the backstories of the main characters are revealed. We also get to see some of the secrets the Arcadian government has been keeping become exposed.

The novel sets itself at a much faster pace than the other books in the series, but all of the new information is carefully explained so that it’s not overwhelming. There were a lot of jaw-dropping moments for me and as I was reading along I was shouting out exclamations like “Wait, can this be?!” and “Who did what?!”. It had me on the edge of my seat.

I really liked the addition of new characters (the more elite Arcadians) and it gave the shifting point-of-views a brand new perspective. It kept me interested and let me see the story’s events from a fresh set of eyes. The novel was just as action-packed like the other books in the series, and I absolutely loved the epic chase scenes where they used their powers to fight. I imagined it to be something like out of a Hollywood movie.

The romance aspect of the story is definitely amped up in this book. While it was nice to see current relationships such Alexia & Ethan, who by far are my favorite couple of the series, develop even further, it was also good to see new relationships bloom. Love is in the air!

Prophecy of Arcadia is a fun and action packed read! Our main protagonist, is "normal" teenage girl who unknowingly holds the key to saving Arcadia, a planet that lies far away. Her "cousins" are her guardians and protectors. All of the these characters try to live and enjoy a regular life filled with school, romance, and parties while danger lies on the front.

The characters in the novel are likable especially Alexia and her "cousins". Each one of them brings their own personalities to the story making the dialogue funny, intense, and sweet. Though they have their differences they always manage to stick together and save the day with their awesome superpowers!

The entire novel is consistent and will keep the reader entertained with something new that lies in each chapter. The overall sci-fi/alien planet aspect was also intriguing and the ending will have you wanting more.

The Fall of Arcadia is a prequel in the Arcadian Wars series that takes readers back in time before The Prophecy of Arcadia (1st novel), and shows how everything got started. At first, I was thrown off by the unfamiliar characters and the plot since it didn’t include the main cast from the first novel, but soon I found myself hooked on the sci-fi story.

The novella was full of action giving the story its exciting thrill factor as we follow Samiah and Malachiax on their journey for knowledge. There is also the big mystery of what is causing normal people to change into these rage-filled zombies (more like evil mind control), adding great suspense. I found that the characters were likable and that they showed smooth development of the short course of the story. I was equally glad that Soars put a glossary of terms in the back of the novella for the sci-fi terms she uses in the novel. It was very helpful when I was reading.

While reading the novella I knew the story would be short, but I wanted to read even more after I was finished. The ending is a cliffhanger and it also manages to answer some of the questions readers might have had after reading the first novel.

I freely chose to review this ARC and I began intrigued by the first chapter! I felt I was there fighting with Samiah and her soulmate to stay alive and some how make it back to their home land. Sami had the gift to see others aura, but not her own. As Arcadians, they were similar to Earth humans and it was discovered by Professor Shix an ancient scroll that led to a portal to another dimension, but in order to go they had to get approval to travel to the dig site from Lord Doom who was not a big fan and was just mean enough to deny them. The explorers had hoped the scroll would shed light on their past, but they never expected to have to fight for their lives with an evil wraith they couldn't be touched or it would possessed by them!

I was so captivated with the novella that it ended before I wanted it to and I hope there is more!
