One of the oldest tarots (tarocchi) in existence, seems to have been made as allegoric gift for a marriage joining the two powerful Italian families of the Renaissance who lent it their names.
This deck had only a symbolic and gaming use for the italian elites. The use of tarot decks for divination is recorded to have appeared much later.
Most conspicuously the cards are unlabeled and unnumbered and several cards are missing from the "triumphs". This reproduction version has only the existing cards and no attempt was made to replace the missing ones.
This version was made by the celebrated tarot collector and artisan Osvaldo Menegazzi in Milan. It's very close to the original.
This is a highly collectible precious deck: a must to every tarot collector and historian.

One of the oldest tarots (tarocchi) in existence, seems to have been made possibly by the artist Bonifacio Bembo as an allegoric gift for a marriage joining the two powerful Italian families of the Renaissance who lent it their names.
This deck had only a symbolic and gaming use for the italian elites. The use of tarot decks for divination is recorded to have appeared much later and using a different kind of deck (TdM), although keeping the same basic structure.
Most conspicuously the cards are unlabeled and unnumbered and the "sagitta" (later "tower") and "diabolo" ("devil") cards are missing from the "triumphs". In fact some experts think the "devil" may not have existed but instead a "prudentia" card probably with the Sforza heraldic snake (later probably changed for a "devil" by Sforza critics therefore changing history!) since it's the only cardinal virtue missing. The versions published nowadays have each totally invented "tower" and "devil" cards in order to controversially "complete" the deck to modern standards. The purist can totally ignore those, however...

I love the illustrations on these, but I would prefer (& use them more) if it had been extended to a full deck, including Minor & Major Arcana. I especially like the compact size of these cards, making them easy to manage.
