This is directed at an L.D.S. audience. It would be easy for non-L.D.S. to decipher, just knowing the Lamanites were ancient American Indians & the Nephites were the ancient American Caucasians.

This was a very interesting story if a young teenager who escaped annihilation because of initiation into a secret club. However, he was devastated, to the point of stumbling and breaking his leg, to find his whole village, including his family were slaughtered by the Lamanites. Suddenly his world went black and when he awoke, one of the Lamanites was standing above him and declared he decided to spare his life and make him a slave.

Among the Lamanites there was a Healer. He seemed kind and set Jarem's leg and put him on the horse with him.

Among the few slaves was a beautiful girl about Jarem's age. H would soon become very close to her.

Before reaching the final destination, the youth concocted a plan to escape. They split up, but later Jarem and the young lady were captured and put into slavery. After a couple of years, they were separated and when the forlorn Jarem was on the slave auction block, he miraculously became reunited with the Healer, Chemish, who made Jarem his "apprentice".

The adventures continued.

This was an entertaining story, perfect for L.D.S. Young Men and Young Women.
It contains a wealth of information of ancient herb concoctions and of how overcoming hatred and prejudice can create strong friendships.

The characters are very well portrayed and the scenes were vivid.
This earns a Four and a Half Stars rating.… (más)

Wow! The concepts in this book blew me away. A Mother Nature infection can become a eco-terrorism tool. The first sentence of the book is "Mother Nature is a serial killer." A couple of paragraphs down reads: "Mother Nature. A mass murderer. No one is more creative..." That's how the book starts. From there it goes on to describe circumstances and situations that seem unreal, but at the same time completely plausible.

This book is a suspenseful race against time, good guy, bad guy, science fiction, action packed book. It held my attention while describing scenes that I could almost see in my mind. Some of them I really didn't want to see. Some of them left me a little squeamish, but it was fascinating. This book is a contrast between emotions. You can't help but keep reading and wanting to know what will happen next.

If you enjoy a good suspense book, you may want to give this one a try. Be prepared that you will read things that you hope will never happen. You will picture events that you may not want to picture. Hopefully you will be as fascinated as I was.… (más)

The Healer por Gregg Luke

The idea of the book was intriguing - a gift to heal that can be passed on. There was a smattering of mystery, a brush with crime, some impressive scenes of healing. But the actual plot felt thin, and while Chris is completely occupied with unraveling the mystery of the stone (and the gift) he has been handed, there isn't a very good resolution to that mystery - or maybe it was less of a mystery than the author tried to make out. My favorite character was Father Llewellyn, who was just lovely.

Do No Harm por Gregg Luke

I really liked Do No Harm. It's different than what I normally read, but I like to step out of the full romance genre once in a while to see how others include it in their stories. Gregg Luke did well. But he shined in the intrigue and tense settings departments. Right off the bat in the first paragraph I was hooked wondering what was happening to this poor girl. It was a great read and I'd recommend it to others for a face paced drama with just a hint of romance spliced in. Well done.
