My boys love silly poetry, and while I enjoyed the way this author use wordplay, I thought something was off with the construction of the poems themselves- some were great, but several didn't flow right, something to do with the meter that someone more knowledgable about poetry form would be able to explain! I just know they didn't sound right to my ear. My sons enjoyed some of the poems, though, which is what matters.

While I was reading this book, I could not help but laugh. This book brought back many memories from when I was young, getting yelled at by my parents to clean my room and that "Just throwing them in the closet does not mean it is clean!!". I also found the illustrations very intriguing. It is almost as if the randomness and messy lines showcased how messy the room was. This would make a wonderful writing model, as it is a list and uses different sentence structures. I love this book!

This book is really playful and goofy, but it is something that will surely grab children's attention. There is some insanely relatable things for kids to resinate with. It is can work as a sort of motivation for kids to actually way to cleans their room. Books like this make boring activities like cleaning your room exciting.

This is a collection of poems that is silly and fun and sure to draw readers in immediately upon reading the very first poem, where the character feels a strong spring breeze realizing he forgot his pants. The illustrations are simple ink line drawings. They are whimsical and realistic and delightful to the readers aesthetic. The tone of the collection is informal, conversational making it easy for the reader to relate to the characters in the poem, whether it is a baseball player who strikes out, a child in trouble for bad behavior, or a person ill dressed for the weather. This would be a great addition to a poetry unit or for a classroom to make poetry more accessible to the students.

This story is for great for young readers because it rhymes, and it has a lot of big words in it that could be used as sight words to help students broaden their vocabulary. The reading level is a 2.3.

I liked this book. I really liked the playful language choice throughout the story "up, up the staircase it whirred and it whined with all of the monsters galumphing behind. It whizzed out the window. It whooshed to the sky. Bye-bye file pie!" I believe that the word choice adds a sense of uniqueness and charm that enhances the story. I also liked the illustrations throughout the book. The flies’ wings were the only color used in the entire story all of the other pictures were in black and white. This added emphasis to how important the flies were to the monsters. Finally I really liked the plot of this story and how even though the flies flew away the monsters still enjoyed their pie. The main idea of this story is that you should always make the best out of unfortunate situations.

Some of the poems are silly, some are gross, some are weird, but all of the poems made me smile. The style of the poems along with pen drawings reminded me of Silverstein. Though, I would still rank Silverstein's works over this title. Whereas some of Silverstein's poems were cautionary tales, I did not get that impression with any of Katz's poems in this title. The purpose of these poems seemed to be simply for amusement. In that the title succeeds. The shortness of the poems make this title accessible to kids as young as seven. The topic of many of the poems makes this title appealing up until about the fifth grade. I would recommend this title to kids looking for silly poems or for fans of Silverstein. I may also point out this title to kids looking for the humor section or joke books.

Cartoons from the New Yorker are something of a specialized taste. More so Edward Koren, who depicts an off-kilter world very much of the 1970s.

The illustrations were cute, and I could see where elementary readers could find this funny.

The tongue-in-cheek humor will appeal to elementary students. The pen-and-ink and watercolor illustrations crackle with vitality, but the exuberant cross-hatching may make it hard for larger classes to really see the pictures clearly.

Cute book. It was not at all what I expected. I was browsing ebooks from my library and saw this. I assumed it was geared towards tween, with advice on how to tackle cleaning a room. But it is a picture book, geared towards the early grades and it is FUNNY. Advising kids to shove everything under the bed, in the closet, etc. It reminds me a lot of [b:How to Eat Like a Child: And Other Lessons in Not Being a Grown-up|408106|How to Eat Like a Child And Other Lessons in Not Being a Grown-up|Delia Ephron|http://photo.goodreads.com/books/1174500994s/408106.jpg|574141], though that one was geared towards adults! If you have small kids, they will enjoy this, and you will enjoy sharing the story with them.

I was amused, as were both the girls. My favorite part was "arrange all your stuffed animals." Too true.

This book is very funny and simple. It explains the exact opposite of the title. The little girl in the book just pushes everything under her bed instead of actually cleaning her room. I probably wound not read it to my students because there is no lesson taught in this book.

Thelonius accidentally ate a fly one day and was amazed at how great it tasted. The monster decided to bake a fly pie and invite all of his friends and relatives over to eat it. The pie flew away with all the flies in it. Eventually the crust fell from the sky and all of the monsters enjoyed it together. Young children would enjoy the silliness of this book.

This is a cute story. This pictures are also unique because they are all black and white and look like very detailed sketching which is fun. The book is also filled with rhymes which is something that students really enjoy.

A deceitful little girl is demanded by her mom to clean her room! She mentions that her rook is very clean, but her mom tells her to go clean it! She says to wait until your mom hollers twice yelling all three of your names then when you go up to clean your room, dump everything out, separate it, throw things in the closet or under the bed, poor spoiled milk in the hamper, etc. The pictures (even the clean room) are awfully messy. For a book on how to clean, the illustrations are not neat and clean. This is not a book that I would reccommend to children on how to clean their room because the little girl does everything wrong and it can give the wrong idea to children.
