I have not read something and laughed as hard as I did reading Man Trouble by Kathleen Kelly in a long time. This book, from the Mayhem Makers series, might be a quick read but it will have you rolling. I've read other books by Kathleen Kelly but nothing as funny as this one.
This book is about Toxin, a member of the Defiant Men MC, who is set on taking Grim, the President of the Warriors Of Destruction MC, out of the picture forever. Both of their clubs have been enemies for as long as they can remember. And this year they both, along with a couple of other clubs agree to attend a book signing event that Sapphire Knight has put together. They've all agreed there would be no violence between any of them and they'd be on their best behavior but come on even with Sapphire Knight's husband Jamie who might be scarier than a club member keeping an eye on them something is bound to happen. Toxin is taking this event as his moment to shine with his poisons and take Grim out using his ex-girlfriend Elora to bait him. This whole book takes place at the book signing event. The authors that are written about in this book are hilarious. Seeing all these women around all these MC guys is too much. The guys don't understand how no one looks at them with fear in their eyes like most usually do. The book world is so foreign to them that they don't get it. Grim and Elora hit it off from the start even with her swearing she'll never date another biker after how badly Toxin did her wrong. But she's willing to go along with Grim's plan to make sure Toxin doesn't get his way. And man does Toxin's plan go wrong. His actions will have lasting consequences for his club. Elora decides to give Grim a shot but does Grim change her mind about bikers? What's going to happen to Toxin?
I gave this book a 5-star rating and a 2-spicy rating. I loved how it made me laugh and want to find the nearest book signing event to hang out with all the awesome ladies there and have a good time. Although a quick read it continuously flowed beautifully with the characters. I'm really interested in getting to know more about Grim's club brothers and Elora's friend Whitney. That girl needs to be a bookstagrammer! I can't wait for the next book to see where the couple's road leads them.

I was so glad when I heard Kathleen Kelly was joining the Royal Bastards MC family! She's doing the Jacksonville, FL chapter and it starts with Creed. He is the President of the chapter and definitely a good choice to start the series off with. Creed thinks he has a black soul and needs to be ruthless to be a good President for the club and his brothers. Things are always happening for his guys mostly cause they work with the Diablo Cartel escorting their product for them. It doesn't help that the Princess in charge wants Creed but he wants nothing to do with her. That doesn't mean that he doesn't give in to her to shut her up. She always sends him to do her dirty work and that's when he meets Vivian.
Vivian is in Jacksonville on vacation from Australia after catching her boyfriend cheating on her. She needed to get away and take a minute or 6 weeks to regroup and figure out what she wants now in life. And no good deed goes unpunished is what she learns. On the plane and in the airport she talks to a nice old lady and decides to help her with her bags. Of course they would have the same bag and they get mixed up. That's not good for her and gets her in a heap of trouble.
Creed is sent to "take care" of Vivian and get the cartel's product back. They think she did it deliberately and has to pay. But Creed can't do that once he meets Vivian. They have an instant attraction to each other and Creed takes her back to the clubhouse. Reaper is so against this and ends up naming her Devil. Creed thinks since she's only in town for 6 weeks he can hide her at the clubhouse and quietly get her on her plane back home without the Cartel knowing about it. Except we all know things never go as planned.
Since the cartel is in disarray with their management and betrayal, the club gets caught up in it too. So does Creed actually save Vivian? Can he make his arrangement with the cartel work for his club? Does Vivian stay with Creed or go home to Australia? The book is left on a cliffhanger and continues in the 2nd book in the series.
I really like Kathleen Kelly's books because she's not as dark and graphic as other authors that write MC authors. It is a bit refreshing to not be dragged into the dark all the time. I think she started this series off really well and can't wait to see where it goes from here.… (más)
