Do you own a Singer Featherweight? I do now, thanks to my very generous mom. Quilters like us covet these machines. One such quilter wrote this book, which is a very good guide on the history and manufacturing of Singer Featherweights. This volume also includes most pages of a facsimile edition of the original owner's manual.

This edition (the most recent) harkens back to the 1990s, so the author talks a lot about pounding the ground finding information and acquiring machines -- something that is much easier to do with the internet (i.e. eBay) and websites focusing on the Singer Featherweight. But still, a this is must for all Singer Featherweight owners, especially those who intend to actually use their machines.

Lots of nice looking large scale blocks , but check carefully at construction methods. There is a lot of triming away of fabric that is wasted. an alternate way to make lone star style blocks.

Fusible Magic is a great book written by Nancy Johnson-Srebro is a great book for serious quilters who like to applique and for beginners who would like to begin. If you would like a little art freedom with your quilt or appliques, Fusible Magic can give you that. There are 100 patterns included in the back of the book, varying in size from 9 inches to 18 inches in finished size. There are also a few for rectangular blocks. But this book, from Johnson-Srebro doesn't stop there. She includes instructions for changing these patterns. You can cut them in half or fourths, or cut them into other shapes, and re-arranging them. You can also use a combination of patterns, using layers. Fusible Magic is designed for quilters using fusible webbing, and stitching is optional in some instances. For the artist who still appreciates ready-made patterns, Johnson-Srebro has included nine patterns which she has designed.

Once you get into using the methods in Fusible Magic, you can really have fun and let your imagination run free! The designs will be really fun to use in your quilts!
