- Margaret Hunt, née Raine, was a daughter of James Raine, an English antiquarian, and his wife Margaret Peacock, a sister of mathematician George Peacock. In 1861, she married Alfred William Hunt, a landscape painter. Their older daughter was the novelist and salonnière Violet Hunt. The family knew many of the Pre-Raphaelite artists and writers, including the Rossettis, John Ruskin, and William Morris. Margaret wrote novels including Under Seal of Confession (1874), The Leaden Casket (1880), and Thornicroft's Model (1881), often using the pseudonym Averil Beaumont and her married name Mrs. Alfred Hunt. She also translated the works of Wilhelm and Jacob Grimm from German. She published the two-volume Grimm's Household Tales, with an introduction by Andrew Lang, in 1884.
