Satirical tale of a spoilt banker's daughter with a golden rather than a wooden leg, for which she is murdered by her husband..... illustrations are delicate line drawings which cry out to be coloured in.....

Keywords- Bedtime, enchanting

Skills/Strategies- Making Connections

In this book it is about a boy and what he does right before bedtime. Its a fun book that children can connect to and relate to in doing the same things that the little boy does in the story.

This story is about a little boy who puts his imagination to work while he tries to avoid sleep. I really like the rhyming aspect of this book. Many children can relate to daydreaming, and it is a good way to work rhyme and poetry into the classroom. I would classify this book in the genre of contemporary poetry. Though it was written during the early 19th century the story is still relevant for children today. I can see using this book to begin a creative writing assignment or an art project where children can really get creative.

A very imaginative story about endless boundaries and being able to be whoever you want. Before he goes to bed this kid goes on more adventures than I've ever had, and even though they may not be happening in the way we would consider 'real' he does them and truly feels as though he has accomplished them. That's what it's all about, using our imaginations to go places far and wide. I loved this story.

It's a hot summer evening and this little boy cannot fall asleep. So, he begins to imagine himself as all the crazy kinds of animals he could be and what he would be doing if he were them. After exhausting his imagination, he is finally able to drift off to sleep. This is a delightful bedtime story book for kids. Especially for kids who enjoy pretending and have always wondered what it would be like to be an animal.

Characters: little boy and all the animals in his imagination
Setting: little boy's bedroom
Theme: dreaming

Possible post-reading discussions may include:
imagination; dreams for the future; don't let circumstances define/limit you; and animals.

A young boy lies in bed, picturing himself and what it would be like to be all of the stuffed animals that surround him in his room. He uses a great deal of imaginative and critical thinking, and finally, exhausting himself to sleep. This book is perfect for a bed-time story, showing children that wild thinking is not something to be ashamed, rather it is fundamentally important for development of the individual and creativity.

Punny and absurd, a cautionary tale in hilarious verse, a story of tragedy and murder inspired by a prosthetic leg of gold. At the end, for those wise enough to hear it, is this tidy yet stirring moral:

Gold! Gold! Gold! Gold!
Bright and yellow, hard and cold,
Molten, graven, hammer'd and roll'd;
Heavy to get, and light to hold;
Hoarded, barter'd, bought, and sold,
Stolen, borrow'd, squander'd, doled:
Spurn'd by the young, but hugg'd by the old
To the very verge of the churchyard mould;
Price of many a crime untold;
Gold! Gold! Gold! Gold!
Good or bad a thousand fold!
How widely its agencies vary -
To save - to ruin - to curse - to bless -
As even its minted coins express,
Now stamp’d with the image of GOOD QUEEN BESS
And now of a BLOODY MARY.

I found this book online at https://archive.org/details/misskilmansegghe00hood and made modest use of it as an epigram for my alchemical tale, https://maryoverton.wikispaces.com/Dream+of+the+Alchymist .

As long as you are conversant with the language of the period and also have a taste for puns this is most enjoyable light reading.

This book have six stories.In these story,ghosts who had been died do bad thing to people or to try to carry regret out for very long time.
I don't believe presence of ghost.But I like horror story.I think these story are not fearful so much.I thought that money and love which cause hatred are more fearful than ghost.I like the story of The Dream in these stories best!I think this story is like religion and lesson.

The main character in this story has lover.
But his friend is loving his lover too.
And the main character is killed by his friend.

I think that ,love and hate is most terrible thing in this world.
I can' t understand a love which is easier than a friendship.
This story is horrible. And the same time ,I feel sadness.

When I read first story in this book, I strongly thought murder is bad and not allowed even if we have any problems.
This book is not horrible than I think.

There were six stories in ths book. All stories were about ghost and they were horrible and pitiful. Especially, the story about a picture of a killed man really scared me.The killed man in the picture always look at the killer. The killer was afraid of that and finally he killed himself.

I don't like horrible story. But this book is not so much horrible, so I can read it.
The Ghost Detective is the story that think most interesting. In this story, a man was arrested for stealing. But he appeared as gohost, and reveal the key to solution. Then the real thief was turn out.
He protected his life by himself. I think he has a lot of guts.
