The Vedic and Materialistic origins of the Indian philosophies are explained in this work, along with the relation of the philosophic foundations of the East to the orthodox philosophical traditions of modern-day Hinduism. Mythology, Yoga, and Vedic gods are explored in this work in order to demonstrate the continuity of the Indian philosophic tradition.

This book provides a concise account of Indian philosophy. It begins with early Indian thought, summarises Vedic religion and philosophy and goes on to deal with the great scholastic systems of Indian thought which evolved after the close of the Vedic period.

The late Professor M. Hiriyanna ranks among the foremost exponents of Indian philosophy. This book, 'The Quest After Perfection', is a collection of essays containing the Principal Miller Lectures which Hiriyanna delivered at the Madras University (India) in 1940, and a few other contributions on the philosophy of values.
