Next Door Knight by Nicole Flockton
This is a story that I treasure reading. It starts out with Kerry and she's had her father move in as he's wheel chair ridden now til his legs heal. She has to find care for him when she's working... she had nurses lined up but they don't show up.
Man next door who has PTS, Caleb is just thinking of retiring from the minilitary as he has enough time in and just not in his right mind to serve after having lost his dog in the battle. He has options on the table and he
will look into them. A little puppy shows up on his doorstep and he figures out the animal belongs to the woman next door. She can't figure out how the dog is getting to his side of the fence...
She is intrigued by the man and he agrees to stay with her father. They do get to spend together, hot adult scene and dinners together. She has to keep relying on Caleb and the dog is a therapy dog. She also donates her time at the VA helping others with her therapy dog.
Love how she manages the restaurant. Problems arise when the ex-boyfriend wants $30k from when she stayed at his house, NOT married over the years. Caleb tries to intervene...
Love how this ends and all the other help from tips for PTS.
Great read. Love this series, but can be read as stand alone.
Received this review copy from the publisher and this is my honest opinion.

I have to admit, that for a series called "Man's Best Friend", I was really disappointed by the lack of involvement of the dog. The poor thing could be removed from the story entirely and nothing at all would change - she doesn't even get her name mentioned in the blurb! Outside of that, it was a pretty bland. Average characters, no suspense, slightly steamy, and minor drama that came down to one character making a decision - an important one to her, but for the purposes of a romance, pretty predictable. I got the second one in the series for free through Bookbub, so I'm going to read it, hoping for improvement.

I absolutely fell in love with this book. Renee was rescued and this is her story along with Declan’s. You feel every minute of Renee’s emotions as she is adjusting back to a free life. Declan has been in love with her for a long time and he will wait for her. He is her safe place/ He is her person. Out of everyone, he is the one she trusts and goes to. Renee goes to Hell and is partially back. She and Declan have a long journey ahead but Renee is determined not to let her fear take hold. You have to read this book. It really is an incredible story. All the characters from the previous books are in here. The author ties the book up nicely. The storylines tie up and flow smooth. That ending…..BAM! I didn’t see that coming. Renee is a fierce woman that just needed to remember to believe in herself. An amazing book! I would have given it more than 5 stars if I were able to.

This story is an action packed romance. The story continues with our Freemasons. Jude and Sienna finally get the chance to come together after flirting in the last book. The spark has been there. Jude has been focused on finding his sister, Renee. Until she is found, he doesn’t want to get into a romance. He feels so guilty, that it is his fault. Sienna, the director of the Freemasons Homeless shelter, is dealing with her own hassles, but she is there for him. This story will grip you right from the start. This author is one of my favorite romance authors for her writing. It’s contemporary. It’s heartfelt. You can feel the emotions as they work out their relationship. The major action comes as a rescue attempt is made for Renee. The drama and adventure will leave you on the edge-of-your-seat wanting to know what’s happening. The cliffhanger is exciting. Some major characters make an appearance in this book from the previous books. The upcoming final book is on it’s way. The story of Declan and Renee will be told. I can’t wait. I have loved this series.

Sadly "The Matchmaker's Match" wasn't speaking to me at all. There wasn't enough depth to the characters to keep me interested and the storyline was just boring. It didn't make sense sense to finish this despite the amount of appreciation I have for ARC from the author.

I've received a ARC from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

Honestly, slightly boring novel with uninteresting characters and content. Isabella emtions were too up and down for me, and how she treated Ethan was unnecessary. It was hard for me to feel a real connection between them nor did I see any real chemistry.

This has been one of the most beautiful series I have ever read. They can be read as stand alone. This book is beautiful, heart warming and almost true to life. The challenges Michael and Yolanda face are real and can be heartbreaking if you let them. Some familiar faces pop up in the story and Bunya Junction has become a bit like home. The details in the plot feel like you are there in the Outback with the characters. There are a few twists thrown in. As I mentioned, the issues are real, which make this story so engaging and one that you are involved in from the beginning straight through. I couldn’t put it down. Touched my soul all the way down. I would give it more than a 5 if I could. It’s going on my Best of 2022 list. I highly recommend this book to all who love to read.

This book is an romance that will touch your heart. Touching on a sensitive topic or two, this author writes in a way that speaks to your both your emotions and your heart. The two main characters are both dealing with rough times in their pasts. The question is can they move past those to be together? Or can they work together to heal? It looks good for them but you must read to find out. This author is one of my favorites because her plots feel realistic. They are made from things that people have gone through which makes everything pretty relatable. I have never been to Australia but her descriptions in the book make you feel like you are in the story. She is a wonderful author and I look forward to reading more from her. I would definitely give it more than a 5 if I could. Highly recommend. You should read the whole Outback series.

This book is a sweet romance that brings to mind the movie The Runaway Bride (though Pandora is not a runaway bride). Jonas and Pandora cross paths when she stops in at his pub. She is running away from a modeling shoot (in a high end wedding dress).... As you can guess, Bunya Junction is a small town and the gossip vine runs rampant. These two start the vine a'hopping. The messes they can get in and the assumptions they make. I found this book quite entertaining. The characters were well-written. All around, Sindy, Randy, Scott, Jonas and Pandora were like watching local good drama. It was romantic and sweet. Jonas and Pandora had rough times and worked through them. I loved trying to picture the area of Australia being written about. Grand book all around. Highly recommend you check this out.

The Matchmaker’s Match by Nicole Flockton
Man’s Best Friend #3

One night stands are meant to be just that but poor Meredith and Lincoln met again as maid of honor and best man at a wedding they both were in. The chemistry was still there but it was...awkward...and more awkward when both were surprised at the wedding rehearsal by an unexpected happening. The two do get off to a bumpy start but eventually do reach a HEA together.

I believe this is a book that will appeal to NA readers. I had trouble relating to either character as their problems were not ones relevant to me and perhaps this is reflected in my rating.

Thank you to NetGalley and Tule Publishing for the ARC – This is my honest review.

2-3 Stars½

This was a sweet, yet at times emotional book but we happily read when we have a wonderful pet. We Kerry who is struggling to keep up with all of her responsibilities. She has a dad that really needs her help, she volunteers at a vet center with her adorable dog that tends to steal the show in this book and her job, but I was rooting for her the whole time because she was smart enough to have gotten out of a bad relationship. We have Caleb (who we were introduced to in the first book) and your heart went out to him, yes sometimes you wanted to knock around a little but you understood, he was haunted and it was difficult for him. Kerry was just what Caleb needed along with out adorable corgi..Enjoy!

Rcvd an ARC at no cost to author..(netgalley) voluntarily reviewed with my own thoughts and opinions.

Tragedy, pain, anger and misunderstandings drove Cole and Ava apart. If that wasn't bad enough secrecy adds a whole other layer to this story. Cole is a member of a secret mysterious club. Ava is tired of holding on to the past and wants to move on. The problem? Cole refuses to give up on her without a fight. However in order for Cole and Ava to have a future together, they have to first face the mistakes of the past. A good story that ended too soon. I received this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.

Just the way you love watching those shopping networks with their “Christmas in July” programming, you should nestle down with a good Christmas themed romance story and experience that loving and romantic feeling a story like that has to offer in July. The good, and with this collection you don’t get just one, you get eight well written sensual, Christmas themed romance stories, and with a price like this how can you go wrong?

As you read each one of these stories and step into the shoes of the female protagonists you might find yourself in the variety of real-life situations they’re offering.

You’ll find love existing where there had been no plans for it happening, but only if you’re willing to toss caution to the side and take a chance in obtaining it.

Can a casual fling without any commitment on either party paired with their dreams cost them a HEA they’re both yearning to have, or can the Christmas spirit of understanding and love create one for them? Or how about a situation where a rivalry between two individuals is transformed into loving one when a small ember of discovering another side of each other is made and allowed to grow.

Moving on, you’ve got to ask yourself, “What good is any anthology of Christmas themed stories if there isn’t one regarding the transformation of a Scrooge-like character into one who is caring or lovable?” And in this collection, you’re given two.

The other three stories round out some other possible scenarios: opposites being attract to each other through some unexcepted circumstances, contrasting individuals coming together to combat a mutual enemy and falling in love at the same time; and two friends being able to elevate their friendship to the next level, that of love and romance without having any fears in allowing it to happen.

The above is what the essence of each of the stories is offering its readers, and is what had made this an enjoyable reading experience for me, that I’ve decided to give collection and its authors 5 STARS.

Honestly, regardless of what kind of individual you are, from a sweet little thing that is still as pure as some newly fallen snow to an individual who has probably broken every forbidden sin in the book, from an individual who comes from the other side of the tracks to someone who comes from the upper crust of society; haven’t you yearned to fantasize about spending some time in the arms of a Bad Boy. If you have, then this limited edition boxed set of over 20 full-length novels is something you must definitely check and at less than five cents per story; how can you lose?

There’s a wide variety of bad boys within these stories, bad boys who are a movie or rock star, a guy who’s in a uniform from one of the armed services to a sly business mogul and everything in between. In addition to this, there’s a variety in the level of heat in the language [both dialogue and narrative] from a simply an innocent and sweet tale to one which is so hot you might be unable to stop wetting the pair of panties you’re wearing as you fantasize about being in the shoes of the female protagonist in the story.

If you’re already into reading Bad Boy stories, this will be a chance to visit some of your favorite authors; or better yet, discover new authors you’ve never read anything from. For having given readers this wonderful opportunity, I’ve given this 20+ story anthology 5 STARS.

Sometimes I long for a story that covers my commute in one go. It would also be great if it took me far away from the humdrum of a commuter train and a working day. Tango Love ticks these boxes, although it did last me slightly longer than one trip to work (more in a moment).

Tango Love opens as Melinda is surveying the bar scene, deciding she wants to take someone home tonight. To her surprise as she picks her man, she is cut off by her sexy housemate James. Melinda’s had a thing for James for ages, but she’d never let it show…they’re friends! But all it takes is one steamy tango for the pair to cross that border into a very sexy, hot night. But when James disappears next morning, Melinda’s left to rue what might have been just one mind-blowing night.

Sure, you know what’s going to happen here, but it’s just so much fun! The novella means the narrative moves along at a cracking pace but it doesn’t feel rushed or that it’s skipping things. And the night of passion…it’s very, very steamy. (In fact, I think Tango Love caused the humidity to rise significantly on the day I read it). It’s much sexier and prolonged than the love scenes in Rescuing Dawn (although they were more about healing Dawn’s pain and learning to trust). The reader also gets a lovely scene at the end, which is just as spicy (and happened to be the point where my work colleague asked to look at my Kindle…). What I also loved about this book was that the setting is kept somewhat ambiguous – we could be in Australia, America or almost anyway. Part of the fun I had was imprinting my own background setting on Melinda and James.

A fun read that definitely brightened my day. Who knew dancing could be so hot?

Thank you to Escape Publishing and Net Galley for the ecopy of this book.

Tango Love by Nicole Flockton

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Tango Love by Nicole Flockton is a short, steamy tale of friends becoming lovers then becoming more.

This book was like the best part of a romantic movie. No waiting for the buildup and background story, we get to join in and watch the yummy parts unfold and the clothes come off.

Melinda's liked James ever since she agreed to make him her housemate two years ago and they fast became friends.
After James scares away a potential hookup at the nightclub, he asks Melinda to dance the Tango and things blaze super-hot from there.

Nicole Flockton is another author I’ve been reading in the lead up to the Romance Writers of Australia conference. I’m glad I found Nicole’s work, as Rescuing Dawn is the second in a series (that can be read entirely successfully as a standalone) that is set in my home town of Perth. Another bonus is that it has a medical theme (love these types of books) and that’s pretty realistic. (I say not 100% realistic because as part of my research for this review, I strolled past an ambulance bay and nobody looked as hot as the hero, Andrew)!

Rescuing Dawn is a romance set in the Emergency Department of a major tertiary hospital in Perth (no name is specified, but I’ve got my suspicions!). Dawn is a nurse on permanent night shift – she’s locked herself into her grief after the death of her husband and son. One night she meets a new paramedic delivering a patient – her first love, Andrew. Andrew (or ‘Drew’) left Dawn broken-hearted after deciding to travel the world. Now he’s back and he really wants to rekindle his friendship (and hopefully more) with Dawn. Drawing her out of her shell is one step forward and two steps back at times, but Andrew is nursing his own misery. Will they ever get it together?

The focus of the book is the relationship between Dawn and Andrew. There’s not a great deal of focus on the medicine (good if you’re squeamish) but there was enough to make me happy. Australian readers might notice that some terms are more American (e.g. Emergency Room vs. Emergency Department vs. A&E) – I presume that’s to reach a wider audience. Flockton also does an excellent job of selling Perth to the reader (especially the café near the hospital – I want to know its name!) and the Margaret River region. I loved the instant familiarity of this book – so much so I know I’ll be looking for Andrew as I walk past ambulance bays for some time…

Emotions run high in this book – Dawn’s grief is dealt with in a careful, sensitive way as is the building of her relationship with Andrew. Andrew’s demons are a little more in the background, but the way he deals with things is in a completely different way to Dawn. It was interesting to compare the two.

Andrew is a great hero – he’s funny, sensitive with just a hint of sadness about him. I loved his determination to get to know Dawn again and his sensitivity – almost intuition – as to what Dawn was feeling. Dawn, due to the way she had walled herself off from life, is a little more difficult to get to know. Once you know her reasons for being the way she is, it’s a lot easier to understand her fear (although sometimes the way she would withdraw was frustrating!).

A sweet romance with a fantastic hero. Perhaps one day I’ll spy my Andrew washing down his ambulance…
