This book has good character development, and main characters, which make you ask questions about them long after the book is finished. You wonder what happens to them next in life, which is a good sign of good character development in my opinion.

Also, the book does a good job describing alcoholism well. One of the side-characters suffers from this and the book describes her struggles with it. I was impressed with this part.

The book is about a young man in his early twenties on a journey to find his birth parents. Because of this, it could be said that this story is a coming-of-age story.

I think it was a well written novel. I didn't regret picking it up. This is the author's second book.

I gave it 2 and a half stars because, I felt like years later I wouldn't remember the story. I read so much. The story line didn't blow my mind or make me tear up because the prose was so hauntingly beautiful, and there was a lack of research into the book which made it lack the depth I like to see in books. That being said it's not a horrible read.
