Michael M. Chemers was born in 1970 in Salt Lake City, Utah, where he pursued a career as a playwright and adaptor of classic texts, graduating from the University of Utah in 1993. In 1997, he was awarded a Master of Fine Arts in Playwriting from Indiana University, and in 2001 he received a PhD in mostrar más Theatre History and Theory from the University of Washington. After completing a postdoctoral fellowship at Carnegie Mellon University's Center for the Arts in Society, Chemers joined the Carnegie Mellon School of Drama, where he is now an Associate Professor of Dramatic Literature. He is also the founding director of the School's Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dramaturgy program. His books include Staging Stigma: A Critical Examination of the American Freak Show (Palgrave Macmillan, 2007), Ghost Light: A Practical Handbook for Dramaturgy (Southern Illinois University Press, 2010), and with J. A. Ball, an adaptation of Lysistrata (Carnegie Mellon University Press, 2006). He lives in Pittsburgh with his wife Farhana and their son, Zain. mostrar menos
