Reseñas

Becky Chambers has developed a wonderful niche in SF. Although this is a standalone, the characters share the same warm, empathetic behaviours that we have come to know and love from The Wayfarers series.
The development of the story is very satisfying and the narrative flows beautifully.
The jeopardy is subsidiary to the relationships and that is a novel thing.

Sibling Dex guides Mosscap in his attempts to understand humanity,

A quick, easy, gentle read, which served as a nice sequel.

A tea monk (a sort of itinerant counsellor/therapist) meets a robot in the wilderness - the first meeting between a human and a robot since robots gained self awareness many centuries ago.

I found the initial worldbuilding a bit clunky but the book was very enjoyable once the actual story got underway with lots of interesting exploration of ideas.

Book fails: 2.7/10
Stopped at 25%, it's not good. The narrative lacks cohesion, with poorly connected sentences and paragraphs, disrupting the plot's flow. Poor imagery and inconsistent descriptions make it difficult for readers to form clear mental images. Illogical progression and abrupt introductions of details create confusion. The narrative fails to engage the reader's imagination, with characters and settings lacking depth and lacked believable relatability. Overall, these negative writing attributes hinder the reader's experience. It's 1 over 5 and I am not sure I will continue plowing through.
So I decided not to waste any more time on this book. I'm 30% in, and it hasn't captured any interest or shown any signs of improvement with respect to the very poor narrative. I'm baffled by the high rating for what is essentially a boring account about space exploration based on someone's imagination imagination. There's no intrigue or anything that hooks you by this point. To me, that's a waste of time. It's disappointing, and it makes me question the reliability of the ratings.
