An excellent work for this kind of academic criticism.
This is a collection of essays about the writings of Dante Alighieri. Included are discussions of Dante's language and style and his influence on later writers. It is divided into two sections; the first including critical studies of Dante's work, mainly The Divine Comedy; and the second concerning his influence on Giambattista Vico, Eugenio Montale, and certain American writers. In all the author emphasizes Dante's continuing relevance.
