Much of this is intended for modern competitive archers using ultramodern powerful bows. As an occasional SCA archer, I do find some of the practical pointers for preparing for archery events helpful.

Next to KiSik Lee's Total Archery, this is a book every archer should own. Written by some of the top names in archery - including KiSik Lee, the coach of the US Olympic Archery Team - this is a fantastic resource for both recurve and compound archers. The chapters cover everything from equipment to the various stages of your shot sequence to training, including nutrition and exercise. As a soon-to-be-certified archery instructor, I can't recommend this enough.

As a traditional-only recurve archer, much of the information in the book didn't particularily apply to me, but it was still a very worthwhile read, especially for the section on body mechanics while shooting. This one will stay on my shelf.… (más)

What an amazing book! As a child, I tried archery and was a total failure. Much later, in 2010, I overcame my fears of the sport & tried it again. It was great fun & I advanced to an acceptable level before illness forced me to put down the bow. Now, I'm ready to pick up where I left off & this book will be an excellent guide to getting me back in shape again. All the chapters are both informative & easy to grasp. The photos provide great information, and the chapter on mental training is particularly appreciated as I am a meningitis survivor. All in all, a wonderful book for the beginning archer, or those, like myself, who want to improve their abilities. 5 STARS!… (más)
