At the time this book was published, it was a glimpse into a Brave New World. This was the New London that we were promised in the Thatcher years and 'The Long Good Friday'.
Yet now it looks surprisingly dated. The book is illustrated in black-and-white throughout; the Isle of Dogs, Canary Wharf (Canada Tower as it is really called) and the yuppie housing revolution were not yet a full reality. The book therefore concentrates on the earlier developments around the Tower and St.Katherine's Dock, and Hay's Wharf further up into the Pool of London. It also has a lot of historical background to the area and the original London docks.… (más)
