This is not about Quakerism at all, but is about Kazantzakis's passionate, very Western, and also rather Taoist philosophy, emphasizing struggle, pain, joy, courage, living life passionately. It is Taoist because he derives it from his passionate inward knowing, rather than from reasoning. This will not necessarily be of much interest to most Friends. ( )
