Humorous account of a visit of "Bromwell Win Putter" to a school where the school librarian has had the whole school read a book another author wrote. Shenanigans ensue. i found this book much funnier than the kids did. I love Daniel Pinkwater and tried to explain that he was writing in a burlesque way about something that probably really happened to him but the absurdity of an author forced to comment on a book another wrote, just because he's tired of repeating " I didn't write that" was completely (or mostly) lost on them. ( ) When celebrated children's author Bramwell Wink-Porter, author of The Bunny Brothers, arrives at Melvinville Elementary School for an "Author's Day" visit, he is surprised to see that the welcome banner describes him as the creator of The Fuzzy Bunny. So begins a day in which everything that can go wrong does, as Mr. Carramba - the school's overexcited librarian - keeps fainting, Mrs. Neatfeet's kindergarteners get syrup all over the hapless visitor and feed him pancakes containing green crayon, and the fourth-graders' pet bunny bites his thumb. Add in some know-it-all first and second-graders, a dubious sandwich made of bologna and shredded carrots, and some boisterous sixth-graders bent on tying him up, and our hero is in for one eventful day... While not as hilarious as the author's later picture-books featuring Irving and Muktuk, those beloved Bad Bears, Author's Day is still vintage Pinkwater. The quirky characters and sly, deadpan humor, combined with the droll illustrations, are sure to make this tale of a long-suffering children's author a crowd-pleaser! Recommended to fellow Pinkwater fans, and to anyone looking for amusing school-based picture-books. sin reseñas | añadir una reseña
