This was a sweet little story. Based on real events and people of WWII. (the bear doesn't die at the end of the book) A few photos at the end, though, document Voytek's story. ( )

This is my current favorite book of the year. The story is based on true events, but Tak does a marvelous job of creating dialogue and creating story to totally engage the reader. The use of maps and illustrations only made it more enjoyable.
