In a world of high expectations, it's easy for women to feel unworthy. But there is someone who loves women just as they are: Jesus. Through engaging storytelling, Dorothy Valcarcel reveals the lives of eighteen New Testament women who knew Jesus personally. They were broken, needy, lonely, flawed, or empty, but Jesus cared about them and took time to meet their needs. With a narrative that takes readers from biblical times to the modern day, Valcarcel defines the kind of everlasting love for which every woman longs--the kind that lifts her up, holds her tight, and never lets her go.… (más)

I questioned God why there wasn't more on his love for women in the Bible. And I won the book "Women in the Bible". His answer. 18 women who walked the earth with Jesus right along with his disciples clear to his resurrection.
Broken, flawed, empty, rejected and so many characteristics these women possessed until they met Jesus. You can find yourself in more than one of these women - and they were not perfect. These are all women of the New Testament.
When Jesus meets women, he doesn't condemn, put down or demean them in any way. He loves them where they are with all their flaws and offers them hope. He believes in them and gives them someone to believe in.
I highly recommend this book as a devotional. ( )

NCLA Review - This book blows the assumption that Jesus could never relate to women’s problems out of the water. The author has chosen eighteen women from the Bible who met Jesus with their ambitions, their broken hearts, and their unfulfilled lives and relates how each had their deepest needs met by the unconditional love of the Savior. Each chapter focuses on the story of a specific woman of the Bible, beginning with a scripture reference, then relating the story to a personal experience from the author. Also included is A Time for Reflection, Exploration, Inspiration, and Affirmation that will further enhance study. Quotes from many famous people are sprinkled throughout the book like little jewels to be treasured. Rating: 4 —ARG ( )
