I like that Heather Wardell writes about flawed people. Her Characters are easy to accept when reading because of their flaws. Though not everyone will like this book because of some of the things her characters do, these things can & do happen in life. ( don't want to have spoilers for those who haven't read the book.)
You can be sure I will continue to read Heather Wardell's novels.

When Candice's in-laws died in a car accident eight months ago, she lost her husband Ian too. After only two years of marriage their guilt and pain have left them living together but apart. During Ian's month-long trip overseas, Candice plans to decide if her marriage can be saved, but when the first man she ever loved is the new client at work, she wonders what she truly wants from life and love. I read this shortly after I read [b:Love the One You're With|2120652|Love the One You're With|Emily Giffin|http://photo.goodreads.com/books/1311992085s/2120652.jpg|1470370] by Emily Giffin. I was not a huge fan of that one. Both stories are similar in that both involve a wife who is torn between staying with her husband and leaving him for a former love. This is the better of the two stories. In this one, the marriage is in trouble from the start of the book. Candace's husband, Ian, is still grieving his parents who have recently died in an accident. He is withdrawn and distant from Candace, and on some level blames her for their deaths. I'm not sure that Ian even realizes that his marriage is in trouble. He takes off for a month to work overseas, and as Candace drops him off at the airport, she decides to use this month to explore her feelings and whether she wants to remain married to Ian.

Meantime, in her job as an Interior Design assistant, she begins to work for a new client; Kegan, the man she loved for a long time 10 years ago. As things develop, he wants her back in his life and pursues her, and she becomes closer and closer to him. She truly is torn between the two. She has a decision to make and watching her arrive at her decision keeps me reading.

This was a free ebook from Barnes and Noble, and really is a pretty good story for 'free'. The decision was in doubt until the very end. ( )

I really disliked the main character of this book. She was whiney, self-centered, annoying, just plain stupid and many other negative adjectives I won't list here. And could she cry and more than she did? So how did I make it thru this book? ( )

This book was amazing. It follows the everyday doings of the main character, Candice (Candy). Her husband Ian has left the country for a month-long service project, and Candice wants to figure out how to repair their fragile marriage. Candice grows in her design career, unfortunately the client that allows her to shine so much happens to be her old boyfriend, Kegan.

Candice is fortunate to have a great group of friends, especially her best friend, Larissa. Candice struggles to recreate herself and her home to make her husband appreciate her more when he returns home. A month is a very long time!!! To find out what happens next, I highly recommend that you read Life, Love, and a Polar Bear. ( )
