This book is written in a whimsical way, but the information is sound.
Written from the viewpoint of his German Shepherd 'London', who you may remember from the television series "The Littlest Hobo", the book covers virtually every phase of dog behaviour and dog accomplishment and its aim is to give the reader a mental understanding of the animals thought processes and attune oneself to them; rather than expect the dog to make the evolutionary jump to understand human thought processes.
Saying that, there are plenty of examples of how his animals have shocked people by displaying uncanny understanding of certain situations that demonstrate just how intelligent dogs can be if properly managed.
This book is timeless and entertaining to read even if you don't own a dog!
You can't say that about many specialist training book out there - Imagine handing a Microsoft user manual to someone who only used a Mac and saying 'Here, this may amuse you!'. Okay, bad example. ;) ( )
