Michael is bent on avenging his partner's death and end Cruise's illegal trade and when he stumbles on Tally he intends to use her as part of his plan. I didn't always like Michael but it was an interesting read. Tally seems clueless at times, but also very resilient given her history. *Spoiler* In the epilogue is the first mention of the island being used for T-FLAC training exercises and an R&R installation for T-FLAC families. Super fun, exactly what I expected and needed. I loved the main characters who were smart and funny, and sexy. That said, I would have been happier if the author had not reminded me at least a dozen times that Tally was "plain." I wish that she hadn't made the pretty girl petty and mean. I wish the portrait of Auntie was a little more nuanced and less black mammy. But, overall, super satisfying romantic suspense. Beauty can be deceiving. . . . Tally Cruise has come to Paradise Island for a long-awaited reunion with the father she never knew. But when she arrives, he is nowhere to be found. Still, she is so thrilled by the seductive beauty of the island that she doesn't see the danger that is boiling right below the surface-until a mysterious explosion nearly kills her. She is rescued by an enigmatic man whose intensity is as undeniable as his sex appeal . . . a mysterious stranger who is not what he seems. Michael Wright is on Paradise to settle an old score with Tally's father, the man responsible for the accident that ended his Navy SEAL career . . . and killed his best friend. But even though he hopes to use Tally to reach his target, Michael cannot deny the deep feelings she inspires within him, or the fact that her life is in serious danger. Paradise Island is a place full of hidden intrigue and peril, as deadly as it is beautiful, and Michael will need every skill he learned as a SEAL to ensure that he and Tally escape alive. . . . IN TOO DEEP This is a book with major problems: the characterizations are shallow and the plot line thin. Add to that an unsympathetic hero and a trite story line. The romantic scenes are hot, but not especially original. And the inconsistent elements abound. I really enjoyed HIDE AND SEEK. I did not enjoy IN TOO DEEP. sin reseñas | añadir una reseña

HTML: In Too Deep Enhanced Collector's Edition Originally Published 2002 PUBLISHERS WEEKLY A brooding alpha male on a mission, a damsel in distress, over-the-top villains and enough sex and suspense to make a Bond flick seem tame. Adair's books have a cinematic quality to them. ROMANTIC TIMES 4½ STARS It's time for the adventures of another member of the sexy and spirited Wright clan. As in her previous books, author Cherry Adair doesn't skimp on the passion, intrigue, adventure or danger. A highly satisfying ride! Beauty can be deceiving. . . . The first sex scene is super rapey. She has ZERO relationship with the guy. She wakes up and he is already groping and kissing her.
I put the book down after that.
In what world is it okay to write a scene that makes a dude pawing an unconscious woman look hot. And she DID try to make it hot. Tally was super into it and never like "Dude, I'm sleeping, why are you trying to rape me?"
I just...couldn't with this book. ( )
