Impressive effort by Ms. Turlington. She is obviously dedicated to her practice, and her book not only taught me things I did not know but also gave me something to work toward. ( )

Surprisingly not bad. I was kind of afraid of the whole supermodel thing -which one was it who said they didn't get out of bed for less than 10,000 dollars? But no, a decent yoga reference book. ( )

I picked up this book thinking it would be a good introduction to yoga. In actuality, the book was really an autobiography with bits and pieces of yoga philosophy thrown in, along with some great photography. It's more of an inspirational book than a yoga book, and I would say that it falls far from being instructional.

As a side note, the layout and art design is above average, and was one of the reasons I picked up this book. Worth a look for all you designers out there.

I didn't resonate well with the author's life story (although it was fairly written), which took up most of the content in the book.

I also have questions about the validity of the informational sections, as I ran into a few 'facts' that struck my wrong. Calling Japanese Buddhism a form of yoga seemed a far stretch to me. Then again, I don't know a lot about yoga, so I may just be uninformed. But, I'll be finding a different book that I can trust more to be my introduction to the concepts (and practice) of yoga. ( )

This is a great book to read if your not sure about getting into yoga. It answers a lot of practical and spiritual questions I had. Christy also shares personal experiences and examples of how yoga has helped her in her life. The book also includes poses at the end of each chapter, some of them are way to hard for beginners, but they offer inspiration and encouragement to think that you might be able to do that. ( )
