The book begins with the conclusion to the "Journey to Sorrow's End" story arc... and then things really get going. Seven years after the Wolfriders are forced into the desert, Cutter and Skywise return to the site of their original holt as part of a quest to find others of their kind.

This volume moves the story forward nicely. Wendy Pini really has a flare for visual storytelling; she's particularly good at using sequential paneling to show how peoples' emotions or physical states are changing. One of my favourite parts is the page where the trolls get Cutter drunk. It's quite funny, and it's all due to the pacing Pini creates with her panels.

There are no huge revelations this time around, but the seeds have been sown. This is a fun and tantalizing continuation to the series. ( )
