My favourites are "Youth" and "Amy Foster". The latter is a gem a tale of a man who has lost his nationality (the result of a shipwreck on the English coast) and his rejection by the local people who fear and despise him. It may reflect Conrad's sense of never being fully assimilated by England and the frustrations associated with being the foreigner.
There are three essays or memoirs that remain unread.
The Conrad Reader is a beautiful old edition published by Phoenix House, London in 1946.
