I am not sure I would recommend teachers or parents to reading this book to children. It is important for them to learn how to deal with bullies, however, Lucy decides to keep the fact that she was being bullied a secret for a while. Children should learn to seek help from the beginning and get the issue resolved as soon as possible. This will hopefully prevent bad things from happening.

All of this being said, a teacher could still come up with a writing model to hopefully help children deal with bullies better than Lucy dealt with Tommy. The teacher could have to children write about what Lucy could have done differently to solve the problem she was having with Tommy sooner and better. ( )

Lucy and the Bully is about a young sheep named Lucy, she is being bullied by a bull named Tommy. She was afraid to tell anybody but finally she tells her mother. Her mother helps her out and tells the teacher so that the teacher could talk to Tommy's parents. In the end, Lucy and the Bully became friends at the end.

In the first pages of the book, Daniel G. Gill a Staff Therapist at the Family Institute at Northwestern University writes a note to parents and teachers about handeling bullying. He advises to share stories that address the topic to stregnthen a feelin of safety against bullies. The story is about Lucy and how she loves school until Tommy begins to break her things and threatens her if she tells. The book has colorful illustrations and helps students to learn what to do when they are bullied. ( )

Lucy is being picked on at school by Tommy. She goes home every day a little more sad until she finally tells her mom about the situation who addresses the teacher with the issue. Lucy is no longer of afraid of the bully and eventually befriends him. A good story to use with younger students regarding bullying. ( )
