In the longer term, the commentary represents his commitment to more accurate translation and exegesis of the Aprocryphal books as a contribution to biblical study in general. An influence from the beginning of his studies was the work of the first Principal of Wesley House, one debt among many to the long tradition of biblical scholarship there.
