NCLA Review -Dave Workman, senior pastor of Vineyard Community Church in Cincinnati, Ohio suggests that the ‘Next Big Thing’ defining people who are followers of Jesus will not be a church’s style, proselytizing, politics or Christian rights, but servanthood. In a series of vignettes produced for a daily 2-minute Christian radio program, Workman provides examples of servant outreach he, his church and church members engage in on a regular basis: cleaning toilets for area businesses, handing out boxes of doughnuts on Christmas Eve, raking yards for free—random acts of kindness and service. Each selection describes not only the event but the amazing outcome. One of the most significant questions he raises is “What if, like Jesus, we said that we didn’t come to be served, but to serve others?” He concludes with “. . . this life is not about me; it’s about God and others.
