Poorly written, poorly edited story about the unappealing twin mischief makers. ( )

Edgar and Ellen's mischievous adventures are unreasonably addictive! With dark, yet at the same time colorful, cover art, including a notice that the author is still missing, kids will be drawn to the Edgar and Ellen series right away. Once they pick it up they won't be able to put it down. A combination of suspenseful mystery, imaginative mischief, and epic adventure keep the reader turning the pages as fast as he or she can.

The premise of this particular Edgar and Ellen story is twofold: there is an upcoming election for the mayor of the kid's hometown, Nod's Limbs; someone broke into their mansion and stole their father's secret experiment journals and letters. The purple-striped-pajamas-wearing siblings must track down the thief while sabotaging the election. However, their intended suspect changes several times, leaving the reader in utter suspense while the mischief-makers must come up with another lead.

The book is of an average length, as far as chapter books go, and even includes fun illustrations every few chapters. However, it won't get boring or be easy for kids to put down. They'll want to keep reading and find out if Edgar rigs the election, or his cousin Miles distracts the interim mayor successfully, or if Ellen tracks down the thief in time to save their father's experiments. It is really a great read for kids ages 8 to 12. ( )
