Christopher Bigsby has already published three hefty books on Miller -- a collection of his writings, a critical study and the Cambridge Companion. This `celebration and commemoration of his life' consists of miscellaneous extras: tributes and reminiscences from 81 of Miller's colleagues and friends, including Richard Eyre, Harold Pinter and Arnold Wesker; a 79-page interview with Miller by Bigsby, previously broadcast, and printed here in dialogue form; and a ten-page introduction to the book by Bigsby, preceded by an obscure Jewish joke. For such a disconnected text, with no guidance to topics in the contents list, about a man who lived 89 years, was author of more than 25 plays as well as other works, with two marriages and much political activity, the lack of an index is particularly damaging. So many cogent comments on all these aspects of Miller's life and works, and no means of locating them in these 305 pages!
