Why is this author not more famous? If you've been considering getting a copy of that fairly long book, maybe you can rescue a copy of this from your library system's culling system by checking this out first.

This is a short, funny, clever fable, especially for ages 7 to 9. Cartoony b&w drawings help tell a deceptively simple story that will give a young reader plenty to think about. It's almost like a classic fairy tale, or pirate adventure, but it's set in the almost-mythological 'Wild West.'

First Ben conned his way into being Sheriff, but after he bullied his way to being Mayor he "gave his sheriff's badge to a scarred up villain who only needed a little violence now and then to keep him relieved and happy."
