"Mist of Melusine" by Rosemary Hawley Jarman is a supernatural tale that chilled my spine like the English fog. Enjoyed it so much more than the novel, which seemed lame without the fantasy element. That was like comparing The Book to The Movie because the book is always better!
If that's not enough, the Pamela Sargent story "Eye of Flame" is set in the time and place Ghenghis Khan was a young child, but it's not really about him; rather the old woman and the magician who save the day as best they can when the ghost tiger comes out of the snow.... top notch. Worth reading again and again, especially if you want to understand the background of the leader of the Mongol Horde. ( )
