This book is a very practical guide to understanding how to use color in any artistic project. Based on the concept of the color wheel, Color Is Everything guides the reader to a greater working knowledge of color schemes which appeal to the eye. Taking the time to learn the concepts explored in this book will enhance your artwork, craft projects, and interior decorating. The book opens with basic information about art supplies and teaches the color wheel basics. It then introduces six different color schemes that always work well and teaches you how to recognize these schemes in the paintings that are reproduced in the book. The final sections of the book teach how to plan a color scheme for your next painting and how to improve bad paintings. The author Dan Bartges is a successful full-time artist with a lot of experience teaching art classes. I found this to be a helpful book that I know will improve my own fledgling paintings. This book taught me a lot and I am eager to start working on a new paining. Its glossy and colorful presentation is very appealing and appropriate for the subject matter! sin reseñas | añadir una reseña

As an occasional watercolor painter myself with an informal background in art, I found Mr. Bartges’ suggested use of a color wheel to be an indispensable tool to choose colors whether you are painting or even decorating your home. Mr. Bartges’ information on the six color schemes and how to accurately reproduce colors within a specific scheme is very helpful. The many color photos and painting exercises within the book are useful and his Glossary of Colorful Terms and bibliography of even more works on color and art will be essential to those interested in painting and other forms of artwork.
I’ve always wanted to paint with oils and with the help of this guide, I feel confident that I can begin painting with a better knowledge of how to mix my colors, and with work, how to analyze and improve a good painting.
Thank you to Mr. Bartges and Bostick Communications for giving me the opportunity to review this book. ( )
