I had very mixed feelings about this book. At time I got frustrated with the fast-paced writing style ( i spent a good amount of time flipping back to see what I missed) and at times the story line irked me. It was the ending though that I really enjoyed, but as much I enjoyed the ending, it the plot line in the middle frustrated me.

Overall, I enjoyed it. Lots of things I could relate too and I definitely improved my Hebrew/Yiddish skills.

I didn't finish this book. The assumption that a shiksa like me would know no jewish/yiddish words or meanings was a little insulting. ( )

Aimee's (non-Jewish) boyfriend breaks up with her, and she re-enters the dating scene and meets nice Jewish guy Josh Hirsch. When he assumes she's a shiksa (her name and appearance aren't particularly Jewish), she does not correct him since everyone knows Jewish boys love their golden shiksas. The ruse continues way too long, and zany complications ensue. This got offensive and uncomfortable (Amy pretends not to know her family, they visit her "church"), though I must admit it was funny when Josh surprised her with a trip to her "hometown" Scranton (she was actually from the Upper West Side). Oy. ( )

This book had a fun premise - a Jewish girl pretending to be a shiksa to snag the guy she wants. Her deceit lands her in a lot of awkward situations before the truth emerges. The writing was sometimes jerky, without transitions, but the interesting plot kept me turning pages. ( )
