Managing By Values describes how companies of all types can achieve greater success-measured not by volume or profits, but by the quality of life for employees and the quality service for customers. Based on more than 25 years of research and application in organizations, Managing By Values details a practical game plan for clarifying your organization's core values, communicating them throughout the organization, aligning these values with actual practices, and reaching an exciting new level of organizational success.… (más)

One thing that continues to bother me is where most books will put a works cited or bibliography page, this book has what reads like full page ads for the author's consulting firms. They use terms and techniques I know I've read elsewhere like "both-and". They force narration and at points it sounds like a cross between an infomercial and a traveling medicine salesmen. I'm being a little harsh, but I'm getting tired of reading books that are about management that just have cute stories rather than statistics, studies and practical advice. It's also disturbing for me when I look up some of the companies they work with and at least at a brief glance I see high turnover even after the consultancy period in upper management and dwindling revenue. (I only did a brief survey, I may have misread some of the numbers.)

Now to some good things. The one silver lining is that the book acknowledges for large scale change there needs to be changes on several levels including personal as well as the organization. Another nice thing is the process does seem a bit flexible and the authors acknowledge it will take at least two to three years but probably longer. ( )
