This is a great bridge into encouraging young readers to steer away from short easy reads and move into harder books. It is a simple chapter book. It is about two dinosaurs, a brother and a sister. They go to school and learn to participate in show in tell where Rex does something slightly inappropriate. Then the siblings learn to trade lunches. In the last chapter, Lilly learns how to read. This book has several little stories in it. One is a silly story about a little boy that shows his underwear for show and tell. One is about a little boy that thinks his lunch looks gross and trades it with his friend. Everyone begins trading lunches and he ends up with his own and he realizes how good it really is. The last is about a little girl trying to sound out a word in a book and eventually getting it when she tries her hardest.

This tells the story of two young dinos going to school. Rex gets to have show and tell. He makes everyone in the class guess until they give up. Then he finally shows the class his underwear! Then Rex goes to lunch, and wants to trade because he does not like his lunch. So everyone starts trading and get Rex winds up getting his own lunch back and loves it! After that Lilly is in class and her teacher ask her to read a page out of a book. But when Lilly comes to a certain word she does not know, she wants to stop. The teacher will not allow her stop but asks her to sound out the word and she gets it. Then Lilly keeps reading and reading reading.

This story has three chapters in it. The first one is about Rex's show and tell. He trys to get the class to guess what his show and tell item is but no one can get it right. Finally, he shows the class his new dinosaur underwear! The next chapter is about lunch time and how everyone trade lunches. Rex starts to trade his lunch with his classmates and trades so many times that he ends up with his lunch and thinks it is great. The last chapter is about Lilly and she is reading out loud to the class. She comes to a word that she does not know but her teacher helps her sound out the word and she does great.

The third story is about Lilly. Her teacher asked her to read aloud in their book and she comes upon a word that she does not know. The teacher tells her that she can figure it out and ecourages her to sound it out. Lilly sounds it out and is able to finish her reading.
