I have reached my breaking point. And now I will not, cannot be stopped. With the Soul Eater on the verge of god status, it's time for me to take a final stand, even if it means losing everything I love. Even if it means losing my life. I've got plenty of power on my side, and some I didn't know I could count on in the first place. But it's nothing compared to the army of the undead the Soul Eater is building up. And time is running out. They say that good always triumphs over evil. I hope that's true. Because the odds aren't in our favor, and the fate of the world is in our hands.… (más)

Rereading- Just as good as the first time ( )

Got ebook omnibus/bundle of this series. Made it thru most of second book. Past first chapter, despite liking author's earlier series, could not get into characters or the storyline. Skimmed chapters of rest and just never caught my interest. Was definitely "urban fantasy" and way too violent (senseless, bloody, and explicitly violent) to ever be suited to YA audience so at least was no Twilight wannabe kinda vampire book. That first chapter sample was very misleading. I do not like my characters so dumb or so violent. And the plot was such a confused morass that did not seem to resolve itself. ( )

I really wanted to like these. I love Jennifer Armintrout's witty, sassy blog. But, having faithfully made it all the way to the end, they just didn't really click for me. They have some excellent parts - I love Max and Bella, and the ideas about werewolf-vampire crosses, and Ziggy's relationship with Bill was sweet - and they should have had the perfect ingredients - love! A triangle! Dark evil to be conquered! Torture! A lost love! - but I never really lost myself in them. Also, JA was so snarky at Shades of Grey for unrealistic characters setting bad role models, but then dives down in this last book to 'It was love at first site, I'd known all along he was the only one for me' and 'if my love is dead I must kill myself'. The ending felt rushed, after over 1000 pages of buildup, and 'and they all lived happily ever after and dreamed of having babies together' was much twee-er than I'd come to expect from this series... All Souls Night by Jennifer Armintrout is book four in the Blood Ties Series. This instalment sees Carrie making a final stand, even if it means losing her life in the process. She takes on the Soul Eater and .....not going to spoil the result for you! This time sees the soul Eater literally raising the dead to create himself an army. The fate of the world is literally in Carrie and her band of friends hands.

I have to admit I didn't enjoy book three as much as the others so hadn't really been looking forward to this one. However this book was the best of the lot! ( )

This day, when I bolted upright in the bed, throat tensed, vocal cords poised to emit a scream as soon as the gasping breath I'd drawn forced it's way out, a hand clamped over my mouth.
